About Me

Welcome! I admire your courage in seeking help for the challenges you’re facing right now. I am a licensed professional counselor with nearly 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I hold a master's degree in counseling from Longwood University in Virginia. My specialties are anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Clients come to me seeking relief and, as we get to know each other, I actively help them better understand their symptoms and learn ways to improve their lives and relationships with others. I love the work I do and I firmly believe that everyone has in them the ability to grow and change to achieve the life they imagine for themselves.

If you are overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, or depression that negatively affects the way you live, work, and relate to others, I can help. If you are concerned about your relationship with your spouse or significant other, even if they are not interested in getting counseling, I can help. If you are a parent struggling to understand your teen as they transition to adulthood, I can help. I use a variety of approaches based in family systems theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and mindfulness. I may challenge you with assignments to raise awareness of negative patterns and opportunities to practice new, healthier ways of living and relating to others. Once we identify what you’d like to get out of the counseling process, we can then identify specific strategies to help you meet those goals. I provide a safe, non judgmental, supportive space for you to share openly as you implement these strategies and make the changes you desire to achieve a happier, more fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you!

Anne is lovely, warm and approachable counselor. She is able to coax out the things that matter to me and gives me realistic practical tasks to help my progress. Most importantly we laugh a lot. I've had therapy a few times before but it was never this much fun!

Anne has been very proactive in taking real steps with me on my mental health and well-being. With Anne's help, I have been learning to hold myself accountable for my actions and behaviors, which is something I was not doing so well before meeting her.

Anne is a very hospitable, knowledgeable, and thoughtful counselor. She understands and applies strategies which speak to the individual strengths and needs of her clients. She proactively works to understands the root of an issue or thought pattern in pragmatic ways while also being sensitive to pacing. I feel heard and understood by Anne, but I also walk away from our time together more hopeful.
