About Me

Hello! I have obtained my BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology to be licensed to provide individual counseling for adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). For the last 11 years, I have honed my skills to be able to individualize my approach to each client's needs and goals for counseling. For example, some people find benefit from merely speaking aloud the issues on their mind, which leads them to their own conclusions. I recognize early on in this situation what they need and do not offer any advice. Other times, people will need to talk but will then follow-up with questions about what to do or ask for an assessment of what is happening. In this situation, I am attentive and ready to offer a response. Moreover, I am flexible to adapt my response if it does not seem to resonate with the client so that it can resonate with the person. The most important thing is for both of us to have a meaningful and relevant understanding what is happening. I also tend to consider how the biological and social aspects of a person's life affect his or her mental health. For example, many people do not obtain the proper amount and quality of sleep. I can help a person to understand the role of sleep problems on their depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Additionally, many psychological issues can be related to disrupted social functioning. I help people identify the root causes of their psychological issues and discuss how they can modify these factors to improve their mental and emotional health. I can develop a rapport with a person and become firmly invested in the client's goals. This skill affords a strong memory for remembering details and associated issues with the individual's problems and goals. I have a substantial amount of clinical experience to efficiently understand what is happening for the person to then lend support and guidance as to the next steps toward resolving the issues. When people first arrive, they are often distressed and confused about what to do and want clarity. Finally, I help people to make sense of what has happened, what is happening now as a result of the precipitating events, and then what can be done next to find contentment and peace.
