About Me
Hello, my name is Antwan and I would like to welcome you to my page. Here you will be able to read on my education, career, and what I enjoy doing in my spare time. I look forward to working with and connecting with you.
I am a three time graduate of Jacksonville State University. I have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology, Master of Science (MS) degree in Counselor Education, and an Educational Specialist (EdS) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
The emphasis of person-centered therapy is to have clients utilize resources on becoming aware of self and helping to resolve barriers to personal growth. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I pride my work with various populations on the instillation of hope, personal growth/development, life skills, and healthy coping techniques. I believe in therapy clients possess the ability and strengths to achieve concrete tangible goals in their lives. In therapy, I like to implement an integrative approach to counseling. As you receive counseling services you will be provided a comfortable, non-judgmental environment where, we can work together to assist with identifying problems and developing goals; as well as healthy interventions to aid in having a successful life. Some of the areas that I focus on in counseling are: mental health; substance abuse; adjustment issues; life stressors; gay/lesbian issues; anger; behavioral health; anxiety; depression; impulse control; self-esteem and confidence; grief and loss.
In my career I have been afforded the opportunity to work in mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral health. I have worked with inpatient and outpatient treatment settings and populations. Aside from providing online virtual (remote) counseling, I am a Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) with the Alabama Army National Guard (ALARNG) where I provide various types of clinical and administrative psychological recommendations for ALARNG service members, including, but not limited to, fitness for duty evaluations and Medical Readiness Decision Point (MRDP) evaluations. I facilitate the prevention and education of mental health issues, early intervention, crisis response and post-incident recovery; and, I provide clinical case management services including assessment, intervention plan, referral, and monitoring of clinical progress. I also work as a adjunct professor at a university where I teach the Diagnosis and Treatment of Psychological Disorders course to graduate students pursuing their master's degree in counseling.
When I am not counseling I enjoy time to myself...what does that look like? Well, for me it's exercising in the gym at least 4 days a week, cooking, and my guilty pleasure (watching reality TV and and shows of the likes).
I am licensed to see clients in the states of Alabama and Georgia at this time. Let's take this journey together!!! I look forward to working with you.

Great first session. Antwan made me feel extremely comfortable in the 1st session...so much so that I spilled it all! Great pairing so far!
I was matched Antwan T. Dixon. From the moment I was assigned, he was very consistent with communicating via messages. I answered all my questions, timely. He also checked in on me to see how my week went. All of this before my first official appointment. So far, I am very impressed and looking forward to continuing to work with him!
Antwan helps you learn how to help yourself..gives you God thinking points for continued use and self stability.
