Dr. Anya Verriden

(Ed.M, Ph.D.)

About Me

Hello and welcome! I am a Licensed Psychologist and Human Service Provider in the state of Massachusetts and a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Wisconsin with approximately 10 years of experience. I received my Ph.D in Counseling Psychology with a minor in Clinical Psychology from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 2017 and my Master in Education from Harvard University in 2008. My professional experiences have ranged from teaching (both K-12 and college level) to counseling in a plethora of mental health locations including behavioral health settings, schools, corrections, outpatient clinics, and college settings.

My primary therapeutic approach is client-centered. As such, I feel my practice is informed by the intersectionality and salience of many differing identities and my goal is to meet each client where there are by creating a safe and judgement free space. A strong therapeutic relationship is a major tenet of my treatment. I also have experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and enjoy incorporating skills into treatment and goals. Using evidence based treatments allows my clients to regain a sense of power and control in their lives. I enjoy working with all populations and ages and have experience treating those with depression, anxiety (social and general), personality disorders, family conflict, trauma (single and complex), and major life issues. Drawing on these approaches, I strive to understand a client's strengths and challenges, and to help them explore relationships between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I look forward to hearing more about you and working together.

I’ve been working with Dr. Anya for 4 weeks. She was very helpful and I was comfortable to tell her my story. The worksheets were useful and made me think about myself more.

Dr. Verriden has been the best counselor I have ever had. I have been to face to face counselors and none of them have been able to help me as much as she has, I am so grateful to have been able to find such a great therapist.

I've only been working with Anya for a few weeks but she's already been such a huge help!! The decision for me to start therapy was long overdue and every time I talk with her I know I've made the right choice. I still have a ways to go but I know I'm in good hands with her, and I'm extremely confident about the rest of my journey. Anya makes me feel heard and comforted, and I've already raved about her to my family and friends.
