April-Marie Anderson, LMHC
About me
Greetings, peace and blessings. My name is April-Marie Anderson and I am a licensed mental health counselor with over six yrs. experience in the mental health field within the Boston/Greater Boston area and own my practice. I provide outpatient therapy, group facilitation, and diagnostic evaluations/bio-psycho-social assessments. My primary theoretical approach is solution focused therapy, (combined with traditional talk therapies and mindfulness exercises) to reduce the unique stressors of my clients’ issues. Solution Focused Therapy is a competency-based model, which minimizes emphasis on past failings and problems, and instead focuses on clients ‘strengths and previous successes. This type of therapy focuses on your understanding of your problem and what you believe your life would look like once your problem is solved. With my guidance, each of my clients finds his/her/their own way to resolving the problem based on his/her/their emerging definitions of goals, strategies, strengths, and resources. I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, fears/ phobias, trauma, parenting skills, sexual orientation issues, grief, depression, stress and issues related to medical illness.
Helping my clients improve their functionality and learn new coping skills is always a rewarding experience. I encourage my clients to consider themselves the most important member of their treatment team so that they feel invested in the treatment goals they want to reach. I consider myself a guide, resource, and non-judgmental tool for my clients to process their issues, explore their weaknesses, and deal with negativity/negative dynamics. Reaching out for help can be an overwhelming experience but I will help you reach your goals and support you through your challenges. I look forward to working with you.
Hours: I generally check messages a few times a day Monday-Saturday between 9am - 6pm and will get back to you as soon as possible as I may be tending to other clients or professional/personal responsibilities. Please note: if you send a lengthy message or reply please do not expect an immediate response back. This does not mean I do not care. It means I am taking the time to read and absorb what you wrote and then write a thoughtful meaningful reply to your message. Messages sent to me on Sunday will be answered on Monday.

As a first-time participant in counseling, she did an excellent job helping me focus on what was troubling me and working with me to figure out productive ways to overcome these troubles. Our discussions were focused, calm, and well-informed, and overall it was a very good experience.
