About me

Welcome! I’m so glad you decided to level up on purpose! By that, I mean your incredible sense of self worth has led you to care for your most valuable asset and most crucial instrument to your making it through this time: your mental wealth. With that, the outcome of your treatment depends largely on your willingness to engage in this process, which may, at times, result in considerable discomfort. As a licensed professional counselor, I hope to utilize my knowledge of life and behavioral sciences to empower individuals, strengthen families and help build stronger communities. I have gained much insight through mine own personal experiences and educational opportunities. I have studied and published in the areas of physics, biological research, medicine, and substance use.

My experience includes individual and group therapy in inpatient and partial hospitalization settings, community agencies, for court mandated and state funded clients, and private practice. I perform case management for clients experiencing persistent and severe mental illness, by way protecting our communities and public and ensuring clients are rehabilitated and re-integrated into community.

Therapeutically, my approach to counseling is an eclectic one. Together, we can jointly come up with goals and solutions that are going to work for you. I apply and teach a variety of interventions using modalities to best serve a client’s needs and goals. The modalities that have proven most useful are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Therapy, Existential Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Eco Psychology, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have had special training and engage in culturally conscious counseling.

I have the most experience working with anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, and complex trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with depression, intellectual/developmental disabilities, mild autism, and immigration/acculturation issues.

I have gained an incredible amount of insight on the experiences of humanity and their ensuing cognitive and behavioral implications. I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work. I believe in treating individuals with respect and dignity and protecting their privacy. The therapeutic relationship is unique in that it is a highly personal and at the same time, a contractual agreement. Given this, it is important for us to reach a clear understanding about how our relationship will work, and what each of us can expect.

I would like to quote Brene Brown, a world renown psychologist:
If you think dealing with issues like worthiness, authenticity and vulnerability are not worthwhile because there are more pressing issues, like the bottom line, attendance or standardized test scores, you are sadly, sadly mistaken. It underpins everything.

My passions are to personally, professionally, and socially engage in a legendary ministry which impacts leadership and communities.

I really appreciate Arica Bibbs when I came to better help I was heart broken, but after a month counselling I was like a new person I was able to do my regular routine and I had a good routine.

Written on Jan 15, 2021 after therapy with Arica for 1 month on issues concerning addictions, relationship issues, family conflicts, grief, and self esteem
