About Me

Ashby is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a client centered approach to therapy. She focuses on collaborating with clients and meeting them where they are in their journey. Using a strength-based trauma informed approach to therapy she works with clients to find and master skills that can help make life a little better.

Ashby believes that the most important indicator of success in therapy is ensuring that clients feel heard, respected, and that they have the space to discuss whatever they wish. Ashby works to build a foundation of trust and believes that a collaborative approach in therapy is key. Ashby’s approach is collaborative, providing guidance and gentle challenges to the client when therapeutically necessary. Ashby is comfortable using a variety of treatment modalities (CBT, DBT, etc.) as well as mediums (talk therapy, art therapy, movement therapy, pet therapy, etc.) that best suit each client.

Ashby possesses a Bachelor’s degree from The College of William and Mary and a Master's degree from Boston College with a focus in Clinical Social Work. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Ashby works with a wide variety of clients. Her experience includes working with children, youth, and families navigating complex traumas, to adults with a mental illness, or co-occurring disorders. Her expertise includes trauma focused therapy, LGBTQ+ focused counseling, loss and bereavement, relationship and individual problems, depression and anxiety issues, and working toward motivation to change.

When not working, Ashby loves spending time with her family and dog, being outdoors, running, and getting in time for a good project.

Ashby has given me a tool kit full of useful tricks to help me through any of life's struggles. She is personable and I feel confident in her expertise and ability to guide me when I need it. I also recognize that weekly she is someone that I can confide in and talk to you about anything in my life without judgment, but with compassion and understanding. I would recommend her to any of my friends and family looking for a therapist.

Ashby is truly an excellent counselor, and her services have far exceeded my expectations. I have had a few good experiences with therapy before, and Ashby is the best counselor I’ve ever had. She is intelligent, organized, empathetic, and compassionate, and kind. She is an incredible listener, and it’s clear she really listens with intention. She is also very practical and insightful, and she takes a refreshing, solutions-oriented in her approach. I leave every session with tangible takeaways and practical steps I can take toward growth. Working with Ashby has helped me to make peace with past traumas and feel more grounded, empowered, and capable moving forward. On top of all this, Ashby is an all-around wonderful (and likable!) human, and someone I admire as a person because of the way she thinks, communicate, cares, and connects. This is such an added gift when working through difficult experiences and emotions with a therapist. I would 100% recommend Ashby to anyone seeking support. She is truly outstanding!

Ashby's been great so far! I've not been with her long, but so far she's been really insightful, a great listener, and has really taken into account my needs! I could not be more satisfied.
