I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, DC and Virginia. I typically work with individuals diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I combine cognitive-behavioral, rational emotive, and existential therapies in counseling. I hold a feminist worldview. I would be a good match for anyone interested in a counselor of color and/or one who provides a safe space for LGBTQ individuals.
In life, we have experiences which we draw on to influence our choices and behaviors for the rest of our journey. We might become stuck in old ways of being that no longer serve us well. Signs our patterns no longer serve us may be symptoms of anxiety or depression or difficulty in important relationships. Making the choice to partner with another to work through these feelings is a courageous act of self-love. I welcome the opportunity to support you through changing self-sabotaging patterns to increase satisfaction with life.
Thank you for considering working with me. Please allow at least 24-48 hours for a reply, with additional wait times for weekends and US holidays.

She's insightful and writes very well. She is non judgemental and asks probing questions. I feel better already just knowing I am thinking about the important issues and trying to grow emotionally.
Ashley has been very helpful. Her advice got me thinking and reconsidering my perspectives, which is something I needed to be able to break out of my old ways. She is quick to respond and will check back with you if you have gone quiet for a while. All in all, I am glad to have her as my counselor.
I found Ashley to be very responsive to my concerns. It is an adjustment for me having our sessions online rather than face-to-face but I am getting use communicating online because Ashley gets back to me so quickly. She is well informed and very good at motivating me.
Ashley has been an amazing help. I honestly don't know where to start. I struggle with health anxiety, and she's been there every step of the way. She checks up on me, sends me relative information and worksheets that have made a world of difference. She makes me feel supported, and valid. I really appreciate this service and all the work she has done with me. Thank you a million times!
She is excellent- always offers great ideas!
Ashley has been very receptive to my needs and has offered great advice when it comes to strategies and techniques that deal with my mental health, I would highly recommend Ashley for her knowledge and experience.
Words can't describe how helpful she is. Very thankful!
Very helpful, insightful and knowledgable.
Ashley was wonderfully prompt and detailed in her responses, and I cannot thank her enough for her insight. She also frequently reached out when I was remiss at following up, which is something I greatly appreciated because it not only helped me work through things but also showed me that she cared.
The format of text therapy is awesome because I can write to Ashley when I am in the moment, instead of storing everything up for a once a week appointment. In the short time that i have worked with Ashley, she has given me immediately actionable advice. She is careful to address all the points I communicate, even when I send really long messages. I highly recommend this.
Extremely helpful in helping me navigate my issues, especially those that impact my parenting.
Ashley responds quickly and is thoughtful and caring. She's not judgmental and I look forward to the time I take to sit down and write to her everyday.
Ashley gets back to you right away and there's always something supportive and revelational in her responses.
Ashley is fantastically insightful, empathetic, and warm. I appreciate tremendously her candor and perspective, as well as her availability and openness. Having her in my corner makes me feel far more supported than I would be without her. Thank you, Ashley.
Awesome advice for relationship management. Ashley suggested weekly check ins with my significant other and they helped a great deal.
Ashley is so great! She not only responds to me quickly, but she encourages me to write as much as I need to so that I can vent about whatever situation is troubling me.
Ashley Alexander is great. She is compassionate and provides thought provoking questions and statements. This allows you to view your situation with a different lens. So happy to have her as a counselor.
Ashley Alexander is attentive, thoughtful and willing to discuss whatever issues I bring to the session. She challenges me to stretch outside my comfort zone in a way that is encouraging and caring. Her support is invaluable to me as I work through issues that have plagued me for a long time. Thank you, Ashley, God bless you.
I'll start by saying that I think Ashley is amazing. I find myself saying "my therapist says" or "my therapist asked" all of the time because she asks such thoughtful questions and imparts such substantive advice that I can apply it to my everyday life and I often use it when giving advice to friends. Sometimes you just need for someone to acknowledge that you're dealing with a lot and to give you permission to take care of yourself, and Ashley has given me that and so much more. I'm grateful for this experience, and am looking forward to our continued communication. I would recommend her, without reservation, to anyone seeking a collaborative approach to therapy. She's not going to give you the answers, but she will help you draw the blueprint...invaluable experience.
