Hi, I am Dr. Ashley Chin, a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D.) in the state of Florida. I completed my doctoral training in Chicago, IL and moved to sunny South Florida in 2014. I have extensive experience in the area of eating disorders, non-suicidal self injury (NSSI), trauma, depression, and anxiety. I also frequently work with individuals struggling with personality disorders, relationship and interpersonal problems, and stressors of daily living. I feel that compassion, empathy, and trust are the hallmarks to a strong therapeutic alliance, and I strive to practice these values with all of my clients. Due to my experience with psychological testing, I also find that I approach clients with a curious and nonjudgmental objectivity that helps us to build a positive working relationship.
I enjoy utilizing mindfulness-based approaches and have received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Though I consider myself to utilize a more integrated relational approach with most patients, these focuses certainly impact the style of therapy that I practice. I also have experience conducting Christian-based therapy, and am happy to integrate faith-based counseling into our work, if you feel that is what you are looking for. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I look forward to learning more about you and tailoring your treatment plan for your individual needs.
In my personal life, I love to spend time with my two young children and my husband. I enjoy swimming, going to the beach, and being active outside in the sun. I also feel it is crucial to practice what I preach, and I work hard to implement positive self-care in my own life. I know how challenging it can be to seek out help, and I look forward to joining you on your therapeutic journey!
