As a marriage and family therapist (she/her/hers), I view counseling from a systemic perspective. This means that my focus is not on individuals, but on relationships. The focus of treatment from this perspective is on interactions within systems, such as family and society, even when working with an individual. I believe effective therapy is based on faith that every individual or family has the ability to affect change within their own relationships. While I encourage clients to bring important relationships into therapy, I am qualified to work with clients one-on-one.
I specialize with the LGBTQIA+ communities, particularly with transgender and gender-expansive clients. Other areas of special interest include sex therapy, consensual non-monogamy, self-esteem, women's issues, spiritual exploration, multicultural counseling, and couples counseling. My services are open to anyone, regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, gender identity or expression, etc.
My past experience includes working with victims of child abuse in a nonprofit setting. During this time, I trained in the use of play therapy with children and families. I also have experience with substance abuse counseling and dual diagnoses.

I have not been talking to Ashley McErlean a long time yet, but I have enjoyed our talks and feel I am benefiting from her counseling. She seems very open, intuitive and caring.
Ashley is an amazing counselor. She manages to quickly figure things out that have been perplexing me for years. I have experienced a great deal of emotional and personal growth since beginning counseling with her. Additionally, she is very kind and easy to talk to. I always look forward to our calls. I have already recommended her to a friend, and I would certainly recommend her to other people.
