I am a licensed Marriage and family therapist with over 7 comprehensive years of experience. I have experience in the areas of sexual assault , PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I have several years of experience in residential treatment (in-patient care) with teens and adults, focusing on mental health and substance abuse issues. I have worked with teens/adults/families that struggle with behavioral issues related to bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, personality disorders, childhood trauma, depression, and anxiety.
I Began my career working with sexual assault survivors of all ages, where I worked the rape-crisis hotline for 2 years and provided crisis intervention and suicidal ideation support. I worked in the highest level group home in California with emotionally disturbed teenagers who had complex trauma histories of sexual assault and physical/emotional abuse. I provide a very warm and authentic approach, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic and solution focused therapies.
I have personal experience with grief, loss and trauma which helps me to understand people and their experiences on a deeper and more personal level. I am extremely passionate about the help I provide and believe in the therapeutic experience. I have sat on the other side of the chair and know how it feels to talk to a stranger about things I'm struggling with. It can be an uncomfortable, but very rewarding process.
