About me
Hello! My name is Dr. Atiya Nathan and I'm thrilled that you have found my page! The decision to seek therapy is a decision that does not always come easy. Please know that your decision shows your commitment to healing and I commend you for taking this first step. Go, you!
I won't bore you with a lot of details about myself so I will try to keep this short. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is dually licensed in Mississippi and Virginia. I currently work full time as an embedded government Social Worker. I love my work because I work hands-on with Service Members in their space, where I am able to see their daily work and triumphs! As a military spouse with lived experience on stress and transitioning, I enjoy working with those who serve as well as civilians. In the evenings I see a variety of clients who have experienced physical or emotional abuse, anxiety, depression, difficulties managing stress and workplace expectations, issues with self-esteem, goal-setting and even parenting issues.
I'm a Kentucky "gal" and I graduated from the University of Louisville where I earned a B.A. in Communication (2004), and a M.S. in Social Work. In 2019 I graduated with my doctorate in Education with a focus on Character Education from Regent University (Virginia). I am also a Clinically Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional.
My counseling style is interactive and compassionate. I am a strength-based therapist; I love helping you to see your best self. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused techniques. My favorite part of counseling is working alongside you as you march towards healing and peace and seeing your transition. My career as a Licensed Therapist is a humbling one and one that brings me great joy. I see it as a calling and not work.
Please feel free to message me through BetterHelp to schedule an appointment and for any questions. Also, please feel reach out regarding my schedule because I may have some openings.

Kind, wonderful, caring, smart!
My Dr. Nathan is absolutely amazing. This has been the best experience ever and I wouldn’t trade her for anything!!
I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to speak with Dr. Nathan and go through therapy. I would say that I hit rock-bottom mentally for the first time in my life, but having her to talk through the challenges in my life and put things into perspective has been a huge factor in my journey to wellness.
Dr. Nathan and I just started working together but I feel like she truly cares about my concerns and what I have going on in my life. She is easy to talk to, listens and provides great feedback for me to exercise in my life. I am looking forward to continuing our counseling relationship and improving my over all mental health.
