Austin Gonzalez

About Me

Hello and welcome! I am Austin Gonzalez, a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Michigan. I graduated from Grand Valley State University for both my undergraduate and graduate studies. I have more than six years of experience working in counseling; I specialize in trauma and utilize techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, and Mindfulness. I have worked in both the community mental health and private practice settings, which has provided me with a range of experience working with people from various backgrounds.

My practice involves building a trusting and open relationship with you to provide support through times of stress, uncertainty, sadness and anger. I will work alongside you to help you navigate these difficult times and to provide you with tools to cope with life's troubles. Common concerns I help address include anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, relationship issues and traumatic experiences.

Outside of therapy, I am an avid runner and enjoy time spent outside with my dog. I love cooking and exploring new cuisine.

I look forward to our time spent together and walking alongside you during this journey.

Austin is great at giving an objective outlook. She understands the deep emotions that can happen during times of stress and is able to give insight or ask questions that help to redirect my thinking. It's been a huge help to have somebody that I can voice my concerns to any time of day. I feel that I have easy access to her, never have to wait to express myself and she is consistent and very timely with responses.

Genuinely cares. Gives great practical advice. Doesn't belittle my problems. I trust that the solutions she gives me will work and are good for me. A great friend.

She has been a great help so far. Despite the time difference, she’s been very supportive and has asked the right follow up questions that make me see things from a different perspective.
