About me

Welcome!

Hi There! My name is Aya and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas with 10 years of overall experience as a social worker. I have worked in the fields of community mental health, medical social work, social services, and physical and developmental disabilities. I am experienced in working with individuals who experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, PTSD and substance use disorder. I have also worked with individuals in crisis situations such as suicidal ideation, homelessness, physical and sexual abuse, substance use, terminal illnesses, and major life transitions.

For the last five years, I've worked as a community based mental health social worker for Austin's mental health authority. I feel fortunate having developed a supportive ongoing professional relationship with my clients. I consider myself incredibly blessed that they have let me into their lives and gave me the opportunity to accompany (and sometimes navigate) them along their journey.

I believe the most important component in therapy is a nurturing therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. As so, I strive to relate to my clients on both professional and personal levels. I use a strength-based, non-judgemental perspective, meaning I believe every individual is the best expert on themselves, however sometimes needs assistance identifying those strengths and applying them in real life to overcome obstacles. I help clients identify personal goals and take practical steps towards achievement. I utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques as well as active listening, motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioral therapy.

Life can become hectic, stressful or even devastating at times. Please know that you're not alone! I'm glad to be here for you to support you, explore your thoughts and feelings, sort through the difficulties you are dealing with right now to live a happy and fulfilling life. Everyone deserves to be accepted and understood.

*Please be advised that at this time, due to covid-19 limitations in privacy, I offer live chat sessions only. I apologize for any inconvenience this may create.

Aya has been very helpful for me dealing with grief. Even when I haven’t been the best at responding to messages, she continues to reach out to me. I feel like she truly understands what I’m going through

Aya was extremely encouraging, understanding, and helpful. I really respected her emotional intelligence and instincts in knowing what care and support I needed at different points in my journey. I'm very grateful to have had this counselling experience and am walking away feeling very positive about my future and the decisions I'll make.

I was very hesitant about therapy, and after meeting some other counsellors in person ( and it not working out), I felt maybe online was the way to go.
Aya and I clicked instantly. She understood my issues quite clearly, and even after a few month break- we were able to pick up right where we left off. Her expertise + support has changed my life. I honestly can't say enough about her. I highly recommend Aya, whether you are going through a hard time in your marriage, infertility, depression, anxiety, or a multitude of other things.. Aya is your gal!

Can’t recommend Aya enough. She’s helped me so much in our time working together in more ways than I can describe. She’ll be my counselor always!

I've spent the last year having Aya to support me. She treated me with respect, actively listened in each session, and gave me many tools to use in my life. When I started out working with Aya, I had some internal and external concerns in my life. We were able to discuss those things and come up with strategies to deal with my life situations.

Aya was helpful when it came to planning out my career as well. We discussed the possibilities and came up with goals that I am aiming towards now. She made me feel like my career goals are attainable.

I think the best part of working with Aya was just having her to speak with about anything. There were times I felt like I just vented about everything in my life. Aya listened to everything and approached those things with respect and meaningful insight. I really value Aya's expertise.

I highly recommend Aya. She is a mindful, patient, and knowledgeable person to have as your counselor!
