Counseling is courage in action: when life throws a curve ball and my client decides to excel rather than tolerate, to Live instead of existing. Hello, my name is Barbara (Barb) Fay. My undergrad degrees were Art and Psychology and my graduate degree was Counseling. I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with over twenty years of experience.
A good working relationship is crucial to therapy success. It is important that my client feel heard, understood and accepted. I believe in tailoring the counseling approach to the client and therefore, use a mix of modalities that best accentuate and nurture my client’s belief system, personal strengths and therapy goals.
I specialized in several trauma-related therapies (Parent/Child Interactive, Art therapy, Trauma-focused, Trauma-informed etc) for children through adults.
Additional modalities include Cognitive/Behavioral, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, Solution-focused and many others.
Although I specialized in trauma, my practice has always included ADHD (time/behavioral management), self-esteem, relational problems, family interactions, blended family issues, situational shifts as well as mood disorders.
I look forward to working with you. Thank you for reading my profile!
Additional areas of focus: Stress, Anxiety, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Grief, Anger management, Depression, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, Blended Family Issues, Communication Problems, Divorce and Separation, Family of Origin Issues, Family Problems, Fatherhood Issues, Forgiveness, Impulsivity, Midlife Crisis, Mood Disorders, Post-traumatic Stress, Women's Issues, Young Adult Issues
