About Me

Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Barbara Oliveri and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey. I received my masters degree from NYU with an emphasis in clinical social work practice. I received my Bachelors Degree from Montclair State University in Psychology with a Minor in Communication Studies. I have been working as a hospital social worker for the last 7years and have experience working with a variety of clients including but not limited to adolescents/young adults, elders, addictions counseling, trauma, grief counseling, anxiety and depression and family conflict.

My counseling style is client focused and goal directed. I believe in meeting my client where they're at and working to form realistic and achievable goals. Opening up is never easy but I feel that challenging our negative thoughts allows us to learn how to channel energy into bettering ourselves, one step at a time.
I am realistic and down to earth. I believe in not always taking oneself too seriously and hope to create an open and comfortable environment for you to grow in. I look forward to working with you to help make a stronger you!

Barbara is amazing. She is kind and listens well, I love that she can relate to me in ways it feels like I am talking to a friend over a therapist but she also helps guide me in my goal to help getting into a better mental state

I have been through a lot of therapists to try to work out things that have happened in my life. I have never been successful. Barbara is wonderful, supportive, listens but never pushes you beyond your comfort zone. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for an awesome therapist and I am so glad I found her on here.
