About Me

Hello!

My name is Becky King and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the field of substance use disorders and mental health over the past 26 years. During this time, I have had the opportunity to work in State Government, the public and the private sector helping to make changes in systems and individuals' lives.

I have worked with children, youth and adults over the years with various life concerns including substance use, mental health, trauma, family relational issues, criminal justice involvement and several other areas. My areas of specialty include substance use disorder treatment for adults, with an emphasis on pregnant and parenting women, trauma, depression, stress management, grief and loss.

My primary modalities for counseling including a person-centered approach, strength based, solution focused, Mindfulness, holistic health and wellness, and the use of gender responsive, culturally sensitive methods in a Trauma-Informed environment. The Trauma-Informed Approach is not only for individuals that have experienced trauma, but for everyone. It incorporates basic principles that help individuals feel safe and comfortable enough to work through difficult issues and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. Below are the five key principles of a Trauma Informed Approach:

(1) Safety
(2) Trustworthiness
(3) Choice
(4) Collaboration
(5) Empowerment

I believe that everyone has right to a happy, fulfilling life. Sometimes, life's challenges can make it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, there is always room for hope, healing and recovery.

Life may not always be easy, but it is worth it! I look forward to hearing from you and helping you on your journey to achieving a happy, fulfilling life...

Becky is super awesome she has given me tons of tools to help me where I need it. I don't feel like Becky is judging me when tell her my thoughts and feelings. She always makes me feel like I am working on me the best way I can and I really appreciate that.

After just a one meeting ( as well as a few messages) Becky made me feel that not only did she care, but that she was dedicated to understanding what it was I am going through and that she was there every step of the way to help. I truly feel I can trust Becky with any and all emotions that I am going through and she will do everything she can to not only listen but to educate and challenge me through my different challenges, giving me the hope and security that I can come out on top of it all! Thanks Becky! You truly are the best counselor I could have ever asked for!

Although I have only been working with Becky for a short period of time, I feel very confident in our connection and her expertise in the field.
She is quick to respond, respects me and my concerns and has shared tons of worksheets and videos with me. I feel there is a level of trust that she respects and I have complete trust in her.

She is amazing. I was grateful to be matched with a trauma counselor because she is able to understand my needs and exactly how to help. She understands what I say when I say them and I think it was a great match and I feel positive.

This is my first time in therapy and it’s going great with Becky. She is very easy to talk to and open up to. Her presence helps me to believe in the change I need.

Becky gives lots of room and encouragement for you to express and is a great listening ear. She guides you smoothly to where you need to go next with things and transition to topics and other things in a helpful way. She is also vulnerable with her journey and is a great facilitator towards finding love and compassion within yourself.

I honestly think Becky is amazing. She really listens to me and checks in on me even when I don’t talk to her first. I think she actually cares about what her clients are experiencing and she genuinely wants to help.
