Betsy Cook

About Me

I have a Master's Degree and license in Clinical Social Work and having been providing counseling and psychotherapy for almost 20 years. I have worked with many different people from myriad backgrounds, occupations, ethnicities, belief systems, socio-economics and religions. I have considerable experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief and loss, sexual orientation, gender variance, infertility, interpersonal relationship concerns, self-esteem and addictive behaviors. My practice is grounded in the nonjudgmental Buddhist Psychology perspective that emphasizes basic sacredness or goodness, the truth and reality of impermanence, acknowledgment and understanding of emotional pain, and the importance of self-compassion and self-forgiveness in healing.

If you are struggling to make sense of life, want to heal from a painful past, long to let go of self-criticism that leads to self-aggression and destructive behaviors, want to make healthier choices or are generally seeking guidance and support through life transitions, I would be happy and honored to help you on your journey. My clients often refer to me as a down to earth, real and approachable. I do not see myself as an expert on your life. I do not see myself as superior or above in any way. We are all here on the planet just trying to figure it out! You can be assured, I do my own work in terms of therapy and personal growth. This allows me more insight and objectivity when helping others navigate life's challenges.

Please let me know how I can be of assistance to you!

It's early days, but I am getting a lot from my chats with Betsy. She's providing me with the kind of warm objectivity I can't give myself, for which I'm very grateful.

Very dedicated person.

Great follow up and it is sometimes great to hear someone else's advice than your own. She has been giving me the perfect way to deal with my partner and it has been nothing but bliss since then.

Thanks a lot Betsy!

Betsy is extremely insightful, patient and switched on! She is super helpful and always recommends exercises or reads that are tremendously helpful and inspiring. I highly recommend her especially if you are looking for someone who understands and appreciates spirituality!
