Hi there! My name is Betsy Petersen and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a fairly new resident of Idaho after moving from Tennessee, my home state. I received my education from the University of Tennessee and have been working in the mental health field since 2014.
I strive to bring an empathetic and motivated approach to therapy to explore all areas of life that affect the person and their environment. I provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Client-Centered Therapy as a starting point, but also integrate other techniques that match clients’ needs, personality, and comfort level. I specialize in working with women in all stages of life with a focus on depression, anxiety and stress, female-related issues, grief and loss, self-esteem, trauma, and life transitions.
I understand that reaching out for help can be difficult. Thank you for allowing me to help, and I look forward to working with you!

Betsy is so thoughtful and caring in our conversations. This is my first counseling experience, and she makes it so easy to open up while also giving great advice and other resources.
She’s been attentive during our chats and flexible on meeting times. I appreciate the worksheets and resources that she sends to help me think critically about our discussions.
Betsy is very thoughtful about her responses and supportive. She and I have been working through a lot of trauma. She has provided great tools to help hammer out somethings with life.
She is very professional and has a perfect balance of making me feel comfortable and able to speak my mind! She has already helped me so much!
I really enjoy having Betsy as my counselor because she is very positive and thoughtful with her responses. I feel safe and comfortable confiding in her.
Betsy is a wonderful counselor. She is a listener, and also always knows what advice to give at the correct time. She is trusting and kind.
She really is a positive force of nature and always has a sympathetic ear.
She is amazing and is helping me in so many ways!!
Betsy was my second counselor in here, and one of the most in depth, kind, and understanding people I have been able to speak to. She has helped guide me towards new healthy coping habits to the point where I finally feel normal again. I definitely recommend her!
Great!! I highly recommend Betsy!
