About me

Hello!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and approved supervisor in Texas. I have 15 years of experience in the helping profession. Over the years my career path has included Education, Administration, and Counseling in a variety of settings. My mental health experience is varied and across a wide array of settings. I have provided individual, group and family therapy in private practice, community mental health agencies, inpatient treatment centers, schools, and prisons. I have successfully worked with individuals ages six to adult with a variety of mental health/behavioral presenting issues including: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, trauma, complicated grief, community violence, phase-of-life problems, relationship and family issues, abuse, self injury, and self-esteem.

I have specialized training and am certified in treating Grief, anxiety, trauma, anger, and animal assisted therapy.

My counseling style is friendly, non-judgmental, interactive, and focuses on client strengths. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach primarily combines client centered, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral (CBT) counseling. Therapy is tailored to the needs of the client. My approach is influenced by my belief that the client must play an active role in their treatment, and recovery, in order for positive change to occur. It is extremely important to collaborate with you in setting and realizing your goals for therapy. Together we will work at your comfort level to effectively establish and achieve goals that make sense for your life. I believe that change is always possible, but takes dedication to yourself and hard work. Think of it as fitness for the mind!

Mental health is a journey, and while you may currently feel helpless or hopeless, that is not an indication of how your life must continue to be. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Beverly has really helped me put my issues in perspective and to clarify what it is I need and want to change. She's helping me create goals and strategize how to meet those goals. She's also empathetic and a great listener. I'm really grateful for her help.

Beverly is very thoughtful and ready to listen, or help anyway that she can. I really like her personally, and how I don’t feel judged etc. it is safe to just be myself with her, and that means so much to me!
