Welcome to Better Help! You've taken a the first and often most difficult step toward getting the help and support you are seeking. It can often be a bit scary and intimidating to reach out and make yourself vulnerable to a new person, but I assure you that I will do my absolute best to help you feel comfortable and to support the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship.
My name is Blaire Schroder and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both New York and New Jersey. I earned my Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University in 2009 and have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Queens College as all of my secondary education is in the field of mental health. I have approximately 14 years of professional experience working in many different settings with individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues such as depression/anxiety, stress, family problems, trauma/abuse, relationships/parenting and more. My experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling is the connection and comfort you feel with the person you choose to share your personal struggles with. I believe we all have the capacity to develop self-awareness through our challenges and therefore be equipped to make positive changes and improve our overall quality of life. Sometimes an individual with an outside perspective and no prior connection can offer an unbiased perspective, can provide helpful support, and can guide and motivate us to successfully address a difficult situation at times when we may feel otherwise stuck. It would be my privilege to be that person for you. We all want to be able to share our personal experiences, perspectives, feelings and even flaws, and have a strong desire to be both accepted and understood. I believe that being open-minded and non-judgmental when someone shares their personal story with me to be critical to the development of a trusting relationship and I sincerely look forward to developing that connection with you.

From our first session, my counselor and I connected. I was hesitant to open up and was not sure if she was the right counselor for me but by the end of the first session and over time, I was more and more sure that she was. I have told her things that I have never said out loud, and she has helped me progress in life and reach a healthier mental state. I don’t feel depressed as often as I used to, and for the first time, I have been able to achieve goals that I have never accomplished before. My counselor has had a big part in this. She is always encouraging, validates everything I say, is very supportive and uplifting, and always makes different suggestions of things I can try to better myself. After our sessions, I feel great and am reassured that I made the right decision in seeking counseling. I know that over time, I will be able to transcend my initial goals for myself and be the person I’ve always wanted to be. I have already recommended therapy to relatives because I see how much of an impact it can have, all thanks to Blaire. Thank you so much!!!
Blaire is great. She makes you feel extremely comfortable and heard. Listens, gives feedback and practical things you can do to start feeling better immediately. I feel very lucky to have found her.

A most excellent therapist!
Blaire's been very helpful so far. She seems kind, insightful, intelligent, educated, and understanding. It's been easier to speak with her than any previous counselor, and I get the impression that she genuinely cares about people and what she does.
Blair is kind, and listens so well. I feel comfortable sharing everything with her and have come to count on helpful feedback and suggestions for moving forward in a positive way.
Blaire has been amazing. She’s super supportive, empathetic, and kind. She has helped me gain confidence in myself and learn that it is okay to enforce healthy boundaries in my relationships.
Blaire helps me figure out how to keep myself calm and relaxed. She also helps me realize the triggers for my anxiety and depression.
Blaire has been my saving grace. She has a wonderful balance of listening while also relating to me when helpful. She is non-judgemental, caring, and hopeful. It has been incredibly easy to trust her.
Blaire has been very helpful and I would recommend her as a counselor!
So far so good. Really enjoying this format and my counselor. I’ve never been good at sticking with therapy but this is so flexible and easy, and so personalized that I can’t see myself quitting like I’ve done with many in person therapists.
Blaire is one of the best counselors I have worked with. She really knows how to get me to look at things in a different light. I always feel such relief and reassurance after our sessions. I couldn't ask for a better counselor!
Blaire has helped us through an incredibly tough time. She is empathetic, compassionate and takes time to understand and affirm feelings. I highly recommend Blaire!
She is the sweetest most empathetic counselor ever!
