I am currently a therapist in private practice in Chicago, Il. providing services to individuals, couples and families. I was previously employed for over fifteen years as a clinical supervisor and team leader and provided training and supervision to direct service staff and graduate interns, coordination of services with community based resources (public aid, criminal justice system, social security. educational/vocational programs, etc.) and treatment planning on behalf of DCFS youth ages 19-21 whose issues included past trauma, loss, separation and abuse, physical disabilities, chronic illness, parenting, LGBTQ and educational/vocational planning. I learned a great deal from these young adults about resiliency and courage in the face of adversity as they moved forward toward their goals.
Currently I provide therapy, EAP and career focused counseling and Military personnel short term counseling to adults, young adults and couples. I provide a safe, non-judgemental environment in which each individual participant feels empowered to explore and better understand issues related to relationship, depression, anxiety, career and self-esteem and in the process begin to create a path for positive change in their life. My style is warm and interactive and my approach is based on humanistic and relational life counseling as well as solution focused, pragmatic problem solving and crisis intervention skills. I am not a proponent of diagnostic labels and I am much more focused on identifying and building upon existing strengths.
