About me

Hello, my name is Brandon Silverman. I was born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois suburbs, and since 2006 have worked and lived with my wife in the city of Chicago. I am the proud father of a 22 year old daughter who is currently in her senior year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am a Licensed Clinical and Professional Counselor; and I also work as a counselor at an inner city alternative high school. I have been seeing clients for over 5 years and specialize in young adult/teen counseling. As a result, I have experience working with people of all backgrounds and stages of life. My perspective on counseling and therapy starts with the central belief that if you listen to your clients, they will always tell you what's going on. While that may seem very basic, unfortunately, there is very little listening going on these days. When we are listened to and are unconditionally respected and accepted, we instinctively have the ability to figure out our issues. That is how we grow. Helping you find that inner strength and resolve is what makes me uniquely qualified to help.

I provide therapy interventions for depression, anxiety and trauma. I focus on developing client communication skills, resolve-training and building inner strength. By addressing sabotaging thoughts and damaging behaviors, I help my clients gain the strength and self-knowledge they need to rebuild their lives.

My style of therapy is honest, warm and personal. I truly believe that if you listen, the client will tell you exactly what is going on his or her life. Together, we can jointly come up with goals and solutions that are going to work for you. I will treat you with sensitivity, respect, and warmth by getting to know you as a unique individual. I like to use solution-focused therapy, family systems theory, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. By getting to know you, we can figure out which type of counseling is going to be most beneficial to you.

Seeking therapy is not an easy decision to make, and I want to commend you for wanting to create a better life for yourself. I would love to support you and be part of your journey towards the goal of a more fulfilling life.

Brandon is the best therapist I have ever had. I started BetterHelp with some specific goals in mind for the year, and Brandon helped me mark every single box over the course of a few months. He is kind, conscientious, and warm, but he is also challenging and realistic. I sincerely look forward to each and every session with Brandon, and I come out of it in a better place without fail.

Brandon has helped me a lot resolving issues with lack of motivation affecting my work as well as personal life. He listens to me and most importantly suggests actions that I can take to help overcome challenges. I highly recommend him to anyone trying to address their behavioral problems.

Brandon was my first counselor I have ever had. I was really nervous to start therapy, but he instantly made me feel comfortable. It was very apparent that he cares so much about his clients, and he listens very well. I received a lot of great advice and resources to help me out, and he always followed up on the goals we set for me. I had a wonderful time working with Brandon, and am very thankful.

I went to Brandon during a tough time with my relationship. He has been great at diving into the full context for each situation and giving a diagnosis for what could be improved on for both my partner and myself.

I appreciate his desire to learn about the whole situation before drawing to conclusions and creating actionable worksheets to develop clarity. I would recommend him to anyone.
