Brenna McColm

About Me

Hi! My name is Brenna McColm. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Masters of Science in Counseling: Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, I hold a second Master’s degree in Psychology also from University of Phoenix. I have experience helping people who are facing many different challenges. I work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children who may be dealing with stress, grief, physical illness, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, self-esteem issues, abuse, addictions, communication difficulties, relationship issues, or divorce among other issues. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospice, Crisis Centers, outpatient clinics, recovery centers and currently for the psychiatric emergency response team.

My treatment approach aims to help individuals develop coping skills, provide emotional support, encouragement, and feedback to help individuals address changes, challenges, and issues they are facing. Change and challenges are a part of life; however, sometimes, we need a little help getting through issues we are experiencing. I frequently draw from motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to help clients set goals and overcome their challenges. I use a variety of methods and techniques to provide a personalized approach; using what is most helpful for each individual given the challenges he or she is facing. Through understanding and compassion I help individuals resolve a wide variety of concerns, crisis, psychological issues, and personal changes. Together, we will work to find techniques and solutions that will be the most beneficial to you.

Written by N.I. on Jul 02, 2020 after counseling with Brenna for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, grief, sleeping disorders, self esteem, and anger management

Brenna has been very helpful to work with. She takes the time to listen and always offers practical coping skills for dealing with stressful situations. Even though we've only had two sessions she has helped me with getting back to work and coping with my anxiety around that.
