I am Dr. Brian Burgess, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the states of California and Hawaii. I have worked as a mental health counselor for over 10 years. I obtained my MA in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2009 and was licensed as a clinical counselor shortly thereafter. I earned my PsyD in clinical psychology at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2017. I ran a group private practice and mental health student training center in Chicago from 2009 until June of 2017 at which time I moved to Northern California. In early 2020 I acquired a second residence/office in Riverside county in Southern California. I am a mental health generalist with a wide range of therapeutic training, skills and experiences. Areas of focus have included family systems therapy, client centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior skills, motivational counseling, individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, LGBTQIA affirming psychology, psychological assessment, developmental disability assessment and treatment including diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders, and most recently I have been working with patients in a forensic setting. Dr. Burgess is VERY understanding, catches on quick, is very respectful. You do not have to explain things to him over and over because he's on it. I recommend him if you need a good listener.
