About me

Welcome to Better Help!

My name is Brian Diehl, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Massachusetts. I have worked in many different settings with individuals and families who have a variety of personal difficulties and concerns such as depression/anxiety, stress, family problems, trauma/abuse, addictions of all kinds, relationships/parenting, military trauma, diagnostic uncertainty, and Skill Building needs. While I have training and am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), I consider myself a Humanist first. This means I have a strong interest in and concern for human welfare, values, and dignity. Humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively. As a Licensed Social Worker, Dignity and Worth of the Person is one of the Ethical Principles.

My experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling by far is the connection and comfort one feels with the person chosen to share personal struggles. A therapeutic relationship is not dissimilar to any other relationship in that trust, belief and comfort are essential. I also believe that the therapeutic relationship keeps our other relationships safe.

You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. The frequency with which you can have access to a counselor to work through day to day emotions and problem solving is extremely beneficial for most and a nice change from traditional outpatient counseling. I usually check messages twice each day, seven days per week. I offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions with limited availability in the evenings and weekends. Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability so please always check with me through messaging first.

I look forward to working with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Brian Diehl. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I don’t know how else to say it, Brian is the effing man. I feel so fortunate to have been connected with him. Already in our short time, I feel like I’ve been encouraged and helped to grow in so many ways. He is funny and compassionate, and always finds a way to gleam a lesson or celebrate a victory. I found my guy in Brian. He’s stuck with me for life.

Throughout a long list of very complex family issues, Brian has been an amazing counselor and resource for me. He understands a lot of major mental health issues in my relatives as well as family dynamics and roles, which are sometimes not as easily understood. For personal work he is great for anxiety management and helping someone individually understand their motivation and how to proceed. I feel like I can plan how to resolve interpersonal problems instead of being indecisive. I feel like he is great for confidence building and is quick to understand behavior patterns as well. It usually doesn’t take a lot of explanation so insight can occur in a timely manner. Brian is very invested in helping and puts a lot of consideration and care into everything. I have had other counselors and he is much more equipped to handle every situation and also bring down anxiety that can come from intense and complicated life situations. I highly recommend Brian to anyone!

The only reason it’s not a 10 is because of money; make insurance an option. I very much want to stay with my counselor
