Trying to find peace of mind in the midst of turmoil can often feel incredibly difficult. It's almost as though we take on a sort of "tunnel vision" in those moments--only able to see clearly what is not working, rather than what has helped us in the past or what possibly might be helpful in the present. As a professional counselor, I believe that each of us has within ourselves our own solutions to life's problems. However, sometimes we may need a bit of guidance and support in actually identifying those solutions and evaluating whether or not they may be helpful to us. That is where I come in--the role I play as a behavioral health professional. I strive to be a sounding board for each of my clients and to help them systematically think about what changes might prove beneficial. Then it is normally a matter of trying out those changes and putting them to the test! A fairly simple strategy, right?
I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches into my work with clients because each of my clients are different; I don't believe that therapy is a "one size fits all" endeavor. With that in mind, some therapy approaches have more evidence regarding their effectiveness than others. Depression and anxiety, for example, have been proven to usually respond very well to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)--a therapy, in which we work together to "think about your thinking" and how it, in turn, impacts your mood and behavior. Motivational Interviewing has been proven to be an effective strategy for substance use and addiction, among other common problems.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in the state of Texas, meaning that I am qualified to not only provide counseling services but also to supervise professional counselors-in training. Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor. My career in behavioral health has included work in private practice, psychiatric hospitals, and community mental health centers. I have also given public presentations on such topics as suicide assessment and intervention, substance use, LGBTQ issues, anger management, and others. I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University (2010) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas (2005).
I look forward to walking alongside you throughout your journey and to helping you to reach your goals, becoming the person you truly want to be.

Dr. Brian Sharp has been a huge help. He helped me with coping mechanisms and understanding my thought process. Previous therapists for me were mostly there to listen to me talk, but never gave me any true help besides venting I found. Brian Sharp was very easy to talk to and very helpful! thank you!
Brian is amazing!
Just getting to know Brian but if you need someone who responds quickly and offers a very solution oriented therapy he’s the guy. His therapy experience is bolstered by his personal experience and empathy. Great guy to know
Brian is an incredible therapist, he has helped me in so many ways. For anyone seeking therapy and direction in life I would absolutely recommend Brian as a therapist, he is by far the best therapist I have ever had.
Brian is an excellent therapist. He is very perceptive and has great feedback and suggestions. He really helped me during the process of getting unstuck in some areas. I appreciate his work.
Brian helped me in the most empathetic and productive way possible. It was reinvigorating. I came to him in a state of disarray and he helped me navigate through a wide variety of issues with distinct tools I could reference throughout my time with him. Each session fed into another, I learned so much about my brain. He comes from a place of empathy and love, but, most importantly, honesty. He never coddled me or "bullshits" his clients, he will always be transparent; yet, in this, I felt like he created a safe space for me to be incredibly vulnerable and truthful about my inner dialogue. I'm departing from our sessions feeling like he equipped me to recognize my thought patterns and approach life from a perspective of love for myself and those that matter most to me. My thoughts towards life were hopeless, he turned that around for me and I'll always be thankful. If I need guidance again, I will absolutely return to him.
Brian is insightful, firm, and repectful. Their style challenged the way I addressed situations and conflict in my life in a way that never seemed confrontational or off-putting. The "tools" they've helped me develop have already proven to be a great asset in my life and I highly recommend him. 5 out of 5.
Brian is a fantastic therapist! He uses humour, and personal experience to assist you with your problems. He offers real, practical solutions and gets to the core of the issue without judgment or prejudice. I would highly recommend Brian as a therapist!
Brian had been a game changer. I was a little skeptical about the app and working with a therapist this way but wow have I been impressed!
Brian himself has been really much more of a positive coach for me (rather than a critical therapist…). He very quickly helped to create a safe, and open “atmosphere” for our sessions but he is also skillfully direct. Feeling that safety has helped me to be completely honest and open about all the different sides of my life and my personal challenges. His honest but very respectful feedback, perspective and suggestions have been incredibly helpful for me to better “reframe” some of my experiences and literally rebuild the parts of my life (stress/anxiety/work/family issues) that have been crippling in the past.
It has not been that long seeing him but I have literally shifted already from “survival mode” to “growth mode”!
With much gratitude, Kent
I am very happy with our sessions and look forward to his feedback.
He’s really good. I’m making so much progress.
Brian Sharp definitely knows what he is doing and has been a great help in such a short amount of time.
I've been pleasantly surprised and I find it very helpful
Brian is such an amazing listener and helps me think outside of the box with my concerns! I highly recommend Brian and appreciate all he has done in just a couple of visits!
Very good! He listened to everything I had to say and I walked away feeing better. So much so that when it came time for another session, I couldn’t wait to talk to him
Brian is amazing. I’ve only been working with him for a couple of months, but he has helped me so much already. I am so grateful for his help and honesty, and for being tough on me when he knows I’m avoiding his questions.
Not only is Brian good at what he does, but his understanding and genuineness speaks volumes. He's helped me put so me put so many things in perspective and I actually feel more confident for it. So thank you for helping me find some of my confidence again Brian, I almost forgot what it looked like.
Brian is easy to talk to, super helpful and he’s made me dig deep into my feelings. He shows compassion and then pushes the uncomfortable, which is what I need. Looking forward to continuing to work with him.
Love chatting to Brian, he always listens very well and understands your issues. It just feels very easy and natural. Would recommend him to anyone
I am very happy that I got Brian as my counselor. He has helped me more than I ever thought was possible. He is kind and helps me understand my feelings. He is easy to talk to and he is funny which helps me feel more comfortable. I would 100% recommend him!
He has been great since the day I have joined and listens when it feels like no one would. It has helped me a lot and would recommend him.
I absolutely feel as though my sessions with Brian Sharp have really made a positive impact in my life. Mr. Sharp is amazing at helping me to find tools in my area that could help me and my family. I so happy that I found this app. And I feel so lucky that I was matched with a counselor suited for me!
Brian is a light in a dark world. I'm very thankful to match with him and have had a few sessions with him. He is an amazing counselor who pushes me to go beyond my limitations I put on myself.
I only done one session with Brian but it helped a lot, he was very easy to speak to and offered his insights in an unbiased way, I would highly recommend
