About me

Hi I'm Bridget! I was born and raised in New York and am currently living in Tennessee so I have experience in with working with individuals from both big city and rural areas . I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) designation and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I also have my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and maintain an active role in researching future directions of this field.

I am passionate about helping others understand their thoughts, behaviors, and stress responses while supporting them on the road to resilience. My first step in the counseling process consists of creating a safe place to connect and get to know you in order to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. Establishing trust is important in the therapeutic process because it when we establish trust that we see true behavior change. My goal as a therapist is to partner with you to uncover the purpose behind all the difficult behaviors you may be experiencing.

My approach when working with individuals or couples is to guide you, using tools designed to help you appropriately express needs and emotions. Just as we are taught how to read and write, we need to learn how to identify what we are feeling and express our emotions appropriately.

My approach to parenting prioritizes and strengthens the parent-child relationship. Parents and caregivers work with me to learn practical ways to establish and maintain functional communication skills, engage their children's cooperation, nurture healthy and respectful parent-child and family relationships, and create a life at home that is fulfilling, rewarding, and sustainable.

It is okay (and very common) if you do not know where to start. Sessions provide you with the time and space to be yourself in a nonjudgmental and supportive environment.

Life is too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. I am here to help my clients achieve a more positive outlook on life, and provide them with all the tools necessary to get them to that place. Let me help you learn and develop better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you!
