Welcome to Better Help! You've taken a huge step, and I'm sure you're wondering how this works and whether it's the right fit for you. I know I felt the same way when I first came to Better Help too.
My name is Brittany Marquez and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in clinical and global social work, from New York University in 2015. Since then, I've worked in many different settings (hospitals, mental health clinics, social service agencies and abroad) with individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues such as depression/anxiety, stress, family problems, relationships/parenting, trauma/abuse and addictions of all kinds. My approach is warm and empathetic, focusing on what matters most to the client. In my experience as a clinician, the most important aspect of counseling/therapy is by far the connection and level of comfort a client experiences with the person they choose to share their inner struggles with. It would be my privilege to be that person for you. My clients have told me I am open-minded and non-judgmental and I strive to provide a safe space for you to process your feelings. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and incorporate mindfulness into my practice.
You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. The frequency with which you can have access to a counselor to work through day-to-day emotions and problem solving is extremely beneficial for most and a nice change from traditional outpatient counseling. I usually check messages twice each day, five days per week. I offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions with limited availability in the evenings and weekends.
I look forward to working with you!
