Hello my name is Brooke Yaffe. I am an LPC with a license issued by the state of Oklahoma and I have an M.Ed. in Applied Behavioral Studies/Counseling. I have over 3 years of counseling experience. Prior to being an LPC I was a secondary science and special education teacher. I have taught grades 3 through 12. In a therapeutic setting I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, family conflicts, coping with grief and loss, parenting issues, social behavior, transgender, sexual identity, career/life transitions, educational conflicts/test anxiety, and crisis counseling.
I am experienced in many counseling techniques and have an open minded compassionate approach. My counseling style and approach is Holistic/Integrative. The first few sessions start out with a person-centered therapy approach. It is important to establish a trusting, ethical, therapeutic relationship by form of congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy in the beginning. Many times a person-centered approach leads the client to discover the answers for themselves. However, the information collected in the first few sessions may lead to a better suited theory. With issues like depression or anxiety, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) can be helpful and an optional approach therapy. CBT has also been great when working with adolescents who struggle with aggression and conduct disorders. Dialectical behavior therapy techniques to be useful in a counseling setting as well. My counseling style and approach really depends on the client and what best fits the situation. Person-centered therapy, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness have been my main approach and style.

Wonderful! Really gets my rhythm and lets me flow in and out of setting up meetings, asking questions, etc as I go.
Brooke has been absolutely phenomenal. From the beginning she showed nothing but empathy. She is super knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ issues and I would 110% recommend her to anyone in my community seeking help. She sets goals not for me, but with me. Brooke is amazing, she is kind and calming when you talk to her and she gives you great advice. If you actually listen to her, she tells you what you NEED to hear. But she isn't blunt and I guess you could say, telling you what to do. But she steers the ship really well for you if you are willing to listen. I appreciate everything she has helped me with and sometimes it was just like a friend to talk to versus a counselor. If I ever need help again I hope I can find her.
I thought that I didn’t have time for counseling and that the little time I did have wouldn’t be enough to make a difference. Brooke has done an excellent job of helping me through chat, while offering me more options for conversation when I have time. I feel like she takes my concerns seriously and always responds to my messages in a timely manner. Just in the few weeks I’ve been using BetterHelp I’ve noticed a big shift in the way I handle stress and anxiety.
