How can I manage my mood swings without being negative towards my family?
There are may be different things that you could do to help with the mood swings but I would like to know a little more what the mood swings look like. Is it more of an anxiety related feeling? I think giving yourself that time and space is important, especially with being a stay at home mom. There are apps on your phone that may help with doing some simple relaxation. I like to suggestion coming up with something that is going to distract your mind. It could be doing math problems or singing a song.
Just a few other things to consider when trying to deal with mood swings related to PMS would be to watch caffeine intake as this may increase mood swings. If you feel like the symptoms vary from month to month, a good starting place would be to get a journal and track when the mood swings are happening and what they look like. This could help determine a more specific trigger to the mood. For instance, is it at the end of the day when your energy is low and your body is tired?
Once you determine a more specific idea about when the mood swings are most intense, then we could look at some of the options of things to do to reduce those stressors. I would also be interested to know when these mood swings started and if there have been periods when they have been worse or better?
Just a few more things to maybe look at when considering options of how to deal with the mood swings. I would look at exercise. A simple walk can improve mood. Nutrition and making sure that you are getting all your vitamins can change you mood as well. This may be noticeable if you have been busy throughout the day and haven’t been able to focus on what you are eating. Sleep, can be impacted by PMS, which can in turn impact a person’s mood. So ensuring that you are getting enough sleep during this time can be helpful.
