Hi Cash, and thank you for making contact with me.

It sounds from what you have said in your message, that your anxiety levels have increased to a point where trying your own solutions to hold back the emotions and feelings no longer works for you.

You seem to have taken the first steps that are to be aware of your anxiety and to reach out for help.

Anxiety can be overcome, and sometimes just a few sessions can bring about an improvement.

Working with a therapist is a collaborative process. Working together we would look to uncover and manage the specific underlying cause(s) and triggers of your anxiety and find concrete skills and techniques - healthier and more effective ways of coping with your anxiety.  We might look at how your thought patterns might contribute to your anxiety levels and learn techniques to deal with situations that provoke your anxiety. You might want to practice the new skills that you are learning outside of sessions, in situations that make you feel uncomfortable. We might also look at self-help techniques, what you might have tried in the past, what has worked and what hasn’t and find solutions that work specifically for you. We would develop a "tool box" of techniques that you can draw upon, that are helpful for you.

Therapy is a supportive relationship. If you choose to work with me, we will work at your pace. You won't be pushed to work at a certain speed, or into scenarios that you don't feel ready to deal with. There is no “one size fits all” and we will work together to find long-term solutions to deal with your anxiety and how it is impacting you in your day to day life. Actions and changes that work specifically for you and the situations that might trigger and increase your anxiety levels.

I hope this answer to your question about anxiety is helpful in terms of giving you a sense of how therapy can be of help, and please do come back to me if you want to arrange sessions with me.
