How do you turnaround a negative thought process when you feel unworthy, overwhelmed & unmotivated?
Navigating through life and trying to keep all of the priorities in the air successfully can take its toll on your well being, leaving you feeling exhausted and spent. I like to use cognitive
behavioral techniques to help with intrusive thoughts that can distract you from your purpose and enjoyment in your life. It can be very challenging to juggle work and home life, especially if your thoughts are stealing your joy. I like to think of an image of a balloon that has the intrusive thought within it, and see the string leaving your hand and floating away in the sky. Just as a balloon, your thoughts can be released, freeing you from holding you back. Just as our thoughts come and go, so do our thoughts. We suffer when we allow our thoughts to take control of our rational mind, leading to increased anxiety, and guilt over having these feelings and thoughts. This can be seen as our way of blaming ourselves for feeling a certain way, which is never to our benefit.
Our relationships can be our biggest asset, as we can often find our feelings and thoughts of a shared future to be affirming and secure. When issues arise that threaten our sense of safety, it can throw us for a loop. Our thoughts can lead us to a dark place where our logic is discarded for images of being alone. For people who have experienced loss of an important person in my their lives, this can be devastating. Protecting the family unit can feel overwhelmingly scary, as we can often overlook our feelings to maintain our relationships.
This practice can increase our anxiety a great deal, as we can undervalue our worth disregarding our most valued qualities. Anxiety can be quite crippling, as irrational thoughts take hold, often resulting in physical symptoms that keep us imprisoned in our negative and persistently hurtful cycle. Breaking these patterns of thinking can be challenging to master. If we can observe these thoughts without attachming our feelings to them, we can be free of the fear and anxiety, giving us renewed confidence.
