How can i get out of my depression?
Hi there,
First let me say that I am so sorry for your loss. It appears that your dad was an impactful person in your life and I'm so sorry with the loss of him came this depression.
I wish you were my client in therapy because we could break down what depressive symptoms you are having and explore ways of reducing them. Depression can look like so many different things to different people. The best way is to describe the symptoms you want to work on and give yourself time and grace to work on them at your personal pace. Six months of depression is not going to turn into 1 month of happiness over night. But through therapy, you can start to look at the "big picture" and rediscover your coping skills.
Also, finding time and space for you to honor your dad so that your thoughts about him don't always focus around sadness could be beneficial. Along with talking about good memories and recreating his favorite meals or rewatching his favorite tv shows. Finding ways to memorialize him can also help you feel close to him, without him physically being there.
Fortunately even if therapy is not an option for you at this time, you can do a lot of that work on your own with the help of supportive friends and family :) You just have to be intentional about your thoughts.
And when it comes to studying for the test, here is a little a scheduling tip to being successful that I do. I break my day into 3 parts, morning, afternoon, and evening. Some mornings are hard for me, and I am not as productive as I would like to be. But thats ok, because I can make up for it in the afternoon or the evening. I will not rate my whole day based on one portion of it. Thinking this way, allows me to not be so hard on myself and keeps me more present with my tasks.
I wish you all the best and I hope you are able to create space in your mind to study and test well.
