I do not know what is wrong with me if anything. Should I seek a therapist?

I feel not good enough. Not smart enough, not pretty enough. I hate my day to day life. Everything seems meaningless. Grew up in a Christian home and now I question everything. Was taught not to do things before I got married and that is stuck in my head no matter my belief. I base my feelings on how many friends I have

A,

I am glad you decided to reach out and ask for help on making such a personal decision. To me, therapy is one of the most personal decisions someone can make. I have always felt like everyone, therapists included, can benefit from talking with a third party, unbiased person to help process thoughts, emotions, and goals. Sometimes the answers to our questions are right in front of us, but we need someone to validate those thoughts. Whether you were to decide therapy is something for you or not, there are certain things you can do to assist you in creating a life that is satisfying to you and that you love.

First, ask yourself things, such as, why do you not like the way that you look? Why do you feel inadequate or not "smart enough"? Why do you hate your day to day? Once you ask yourself those questions and answer them, then ask yourself what your strengths are. Ask yourself what you DO like about your looks? What are YOU good at, that others might not be? What DO you like about your day to day life? What family traditions are those that you enjoy and believe and which ones do you feel like are not satisfying for you? Take those strengths and use them in supporting you to work towards your identified goals. Discover what you want to change in your life and decide what steps are needed to achieve those goals. Writing each of these down help ourselves process these thoughts and ideas and will serve as quick reminders when we need them. While a therapist cannot make life changes for you, they can definitely help make the thought and discovery process much easier to go through. Sometimes the answers to our life's questions are right there in front of us but having that support from someone, makes achieving those goals feel much more attainable as your thoughts are validated.

Whether you personally decide that therapy would be something beneficial for you or not, you can not go wrong by working towards your ultimate life goals to feel more satisfied. Therapy is ultimately a personal choice, but I personally do not believe that someone could ever not benefit from going to therapy. I hope this answer helps you in your decision making!
