Is it ok to move out and rent because I feel so suffocated?
CM,
I am so glad you reached out for guidance by asking your question. That is a great first step. It is obvious that you care about your family and that the thought of moving out causes you distress. Staying in an unhealthy environment is not good for your or the relationship with your family members.
Your mental health has to come first. It is kind of like what they say on the airplane about having to put on your oxygen mask first before you can help others. You need to do what is in your best interest first. By doing this it will usually strengthen your relationship with others as well.
You mentioned there being fighting and confrontation. That is exhausting. I can see why you would say you are emotionally tired. Imagine that not being your normal anymore and that you can have a safe place for yourself. You would be able to take care of you and your emotional well-being. You would be able to control the time spent with your family and if it were to get to a point where it is not healthy anymore then you would be able to leave that environment. That can be very empowering.
I know it can be scary thinking of moving out from your family but it can also be exciting and healthy for you to do so. I am curious if you were to write out a pros / cons list what that would look like. Obviously we don't get to interact with one another by doing these questions but I can think of some questions I would ask you. What is holding you back from leaving? Do your parents guilt you in anyway to stay? Have you communicated to them how you are feeling?
Again, you have to take care of yourself and do what is best for your own mental health. This could also strengthen the relationship with your family as hopefully the interactions with them would be more enjoyable knowing that you don't have to stay in that environment if it were to get confrontational or into arguments.
I wish you the best of luck.
