Why grief is good?
Grief is such a complex, heavy emotion that we experience in moments of great loss. When you are experiencing grief, it can be so hard to understand why grief can be a good thing. However, there are many facts about grief to help show why it is good to experience, even though it is so hard. One good thing about grief is it shows that you are allowing yourself to feel genuine feelings. Those feelings are a testament to how much you cared for the person that you lost. If you do not experience grief after a loss, it is somewhat sad because it sort of devalues the life the person lived. Some people are so numb that they do not get to experience emotions in life so the fact that you can experience grief is a good sign that you are connected to your emotions.
Another important point to recognize when experiencing grief is that it is a sign that you are allowing yourself to get close to others. Having different relationships and friendships means that you are experiencing life to the fullest, even if it does sometimes come with pain. If you can affirm this when you are experiencing grief, you can hopefully accept that grief is part of the equation of getting closer to people.
When you experience grief, it actually helps you prepare for future tough moments. When we experience really tough moments in life it can help us have more confidence on being able to cope with the tough moments. They, of course, are never easy, but these extra tough moments in life can really build self-confidence. As you experience grief yourself, it can also help you to better empathize with others when they experience grief. One of the main things people can say when they are going through a hard time is that other people do not understand. However, if you have experienced grief yourself, you can have some empathy towards someone you care about that is also experiencing grief. That empathy cannot only help the person you care about, but it can also help bring you two closer together.
