How motivation can impact leadership?
Motivation is such a driving force that can positively impact so many different areas of our lives. Therefore, motivation is a force that can definitely positively impact leadership. When you are a leader with the motivation, you will have more of a drive to help your employees. Your employees can sense that motivation, which can help them feel respected and increase their motivation. For example, if your team has a work project and you show that you are motivated by giving them a pep talk, that could positively impact the project and their overall motivation. A motivated leader is much more likely to display that motivation and energy that can positively impact the employees and the workplace.
When a leader is motivated, it can help them feel more connected to their employees. When they are more connected to their employees, it will be easier to be empathetic towards them. Empathy is a huge factor that helps employees feel respected and motivated. Empathy will help a team be able to work through difficult challenges as well. Without motivation, low moments and challenges will be so much harder to get through. For example, if a deadline gets pushed up for a work project and no one is motivated, they will not likely feel overwhelmed and not get the project finished. A motivated leader can help their employees cope with the difficult moments that will naturally happen from time to time.
Leaders that are motivated are more likely to be more solution-focused when old solutions do not work. Working towards new solutions can greatly impact a team and a workplace. Staying stuck in old solutions has a way of making the workplace feel toxic and like nothing will change. For example, if an employee is continually disruptive and the leader is not motivated to confront them, it could be really toxic for the workplace because things will likely stay in the same place. A motivated leader is much more likely to work through work disruptions and find solutions that work for their team.
