I need customised psychiatric advice but not sure if I can afford the therapy in a long run!

I recently have a very hard breakup and my family relationship is always unstable. Need some sort of support or real life solution. I feel I’m walking in the clouds not grounded, and just on my own. I want to have a real life with happiness not just loneliness and full of disappointments.

Hello Gg,

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling since experiencing a breakup and ongoing family issues. I want to encourage you that counseling is absolutely worth the investment. I completely understand though if you have concerns about the financial sustainability of counseling. I want to encourage you that there are financially affordable options for therapy out there.

BetterHelp intentionally keeps therapists out of the billing aspect of the service so that we can just focus on providing the best therapy possible, but I can tell you that BetterHelp does have options to help reduce the costs of membership. You will want to ask this question directly to the support team by sending them a message (contact@betterhelp.com) and explaining your circumstances. It is quite possible they can work with you to help you be able to afford services. They often provide financial assistance and even free trials to individuals on a limited basis.

However, I do know that BetterHelp can be out of reach for some people and what they offer as far as assistance might still be unobtainable for you.  There are other options available as well.

If after reaching out to support, you still aren't able to access services on the platform I want you to know that there are many options to find affordable services. If you do not have insurance or if your copay/coinsurance is too high for your current income then you will want to look in your community for therapists who provide income based payments and sliding scale fees; this can be free depending on your income. A good resource if you are located in the United States is to use SAMHSA's treatment locator (https://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/). I encourage you to reach out about financial assistance, but if it is still not financially feasible, I encourage you to explore looking for a sliding scale therapist near you.

The financial cost is worth it, but I understand your concern. I hope you are able to get the assistance you need so that you aren't feeling that you are going this alone.  I wish you the best!
