What Careers are there?
There are all kinds of different careers you can choose from. Careers are broken down into career clusters. Career clusters allow you to narrow down the different career choices within a specific career path. There are a total of sixteen career clusters. Within each career cluster, you can locate specific careers, the education you need to obtain in those careers, the average salary, the skills needed to perform that specific job, the typical work environment, the steps to obtain that career, and other careers that can relate to that specific career.
The first career cluster is Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. This relates to those careers in farming, engineering, veterinarians, ranchers, and scientists.
The second career cluster is architecture and construction. This is related to those that work in trade jobs such as construction and plumbers, to those that are involved in designing, and building homes to maintain bridges and streets.
The third career cluster is Arts, Audio/Visual, Technology, and communication. These careers are related to performers, journalists, radio personalities, and those that work behind the scenes.
The fourth cluster is Business Management and Administration. These jobs range from working in big corporations to entry-level positions such as receptionists or secretaries.
The fifth is Education and Training. Jobs that are in this area are specific to those that are wanting to work in education.
The sixth is Finance. Jobs related to this career cluster would be a financial analyst, someone who works in a bank, financial planner, or debt counselor.
The seventh is Hospitality and Tourism. Specific jobs in this field are related to hotel management, working in resorts, the restaurant and bar industry, and tourism.
The eighth cluster is Human Services. Jobs in this area relate to those that want to work in social work, psychology, cosmetology, and nail services.
The ninth cluster is Information Technology. These jobs include web designers, computer support, computer sciences, and information security analysts.
The tenth cluster is Law Public Safety, Corrections, and Security. Jobs in this field include lawyers, police officers, FBI agents, or corrections officers.
The eleventh cluster is Manufacturing. Most careers in this cluster are very hands-on and usually are those that work in warehouses, equipment operators, or assembly lines.
The twelfth cluster is Marketing, Sales, and Service. These are jobs related to customer service, retail, real estate, and salespeople.
The thirteenth cluster is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Here you will find the scientist, mathematicians, engineers, and chemists.
Number fourteen is Government and Administration. Jobs in this area are related to those that help enforce specific laws. Such as clerks, tax collectors, and military workers.
Number fifteen is Health Science. This is related to jobs in health care such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, and pharmacists.
The last career cluster is Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. This where you will find jobs for people that fix and maintain public service vehicles, pilots, and transportation planners, and rail car repair.
