Can relationships last forever?

Something to consider when it comes to looking at a relationship and the concept of forever, these are both a matter of perception.  Some people look at a friendship differently than others.  For some, having a constant connection and communication with one another is what qualifies as a friendship.  While others believe that the initial connection and foundation established is what matters even if the connection trails off over time.  This is why the concept of forever is also a matter of perception, having that initial connection will constitute a forever connection for some; while others believe that if that constant communication is not present then the friendship is non-existent.

If you desire to have the relationship last forever, yes there is the potential for this to be a possibility if this is your goal.  It might be important to have that open line of communication as to what the expectations/needs are from each other to ensure that both parties can be satisfied within the said relationship.  If that open line of communication does not exist then the quality of the relationship would be compromised.  And this is something to reflect on, if the relationship is perceived to last forever, you also need to consider whether you will be happy in the relationship long term.  That might be more of an important question to ask yourself.

If perhaps your concern is that the idea of a relationship not lasting forever feels daunting or unrealistic, then the odds of any relationship having longevity is not likely. From a non-judgmental stance, it does not serve a helpful purpose to label this perspective as “good or bad.”  It is best to look at this perspective “as is” instead.  If you are not necessarily looking for an everlasting relationship; then it is recommended to focus on the quality of the relationship you are maintaining.  Regardless of the length of time, you may want to focus on making the most of the relationship you have with this other person.

There is no direct answer to this question and that is perfectly okay.  It is more about what is it that you want from the relationship and focusing on what you can do to emulate that.  There is absolutely the potential for a relationship to last forever, you just need to consider if this is something that is what you want and what you are able/willing to do to foster that forever relationship.
