Dating apps are a wonderful tool that has helped people be more connected than ever.  Within seconds of opening a dating app, you can be in an in-depth conversation with someone you are interested in.  Due to this, dating apps have definitely created a sort of instant gratification in the dating world.  Before dating apps, it might take a while to receive validation, whereas, with dating apps, we can receive validation many times throughout the day.  Having that instant gratification can be nice, but something to be cautious about as far as getting somewhat addicted to and never going more in-depth with anyone.

Dating apps involve a lot of nonverbal communication, which can be easier for some people and fun.  Due to this, people are getting really good at nonverbal communication and being vulnerable nonverbally. However, on the other hand, it is making it more difficult for some people to be vulnerable and connect in person.  One positive part of that is that people are getting a lot closer before meeting in person.  Some people might even feel like they are really close before ever meeting in person.  This can help the transition to interact in person go more smoothly.

Some possible difficulties people face with dating apps are lying, ghosting, and friends talking to the same potential partners.  Dating apps have made it easier for people to lie to each other and present how they want to present, even if it is a complete lie.  Also, people can more easily avoid confrontation by ghosting people, which can be really difficult to be on the receiving end of.  It is important to see that as an unfortunate part of the dating app culture rather than something personal about you.  Some people might even run into talking to the same people on dating apps which can also be confusing and hurtful.  Just try to remember that you are only in control of your own actions and how you present yourself, and remember the culture of dating apps.
