How can I know that a woman loves me for the way I am and not my money?
Hello and thank you for posting your question in this forum. This is a rather difficult and complex concern but we will attempt to help you deconstruct it as much as possible. It seems you have been through several difficult romantic relationships and that in general there is some struggle in your romantic life. You are seeking to better understand the motivations of the women who you are dating and those you have dated previously. It seems that when you are engaged in relationships with women you go out of your way to treat them very nicely, to the point of spending a lot of money on them and treating them to other luxuries.
We must first dig down into this and ask about why you feel it is necessary to do this? You felt like you had to provide many gifts and other luxuries to your ex-girlfriend to ‘keep her satisfied’. You note that you provided her with money, gifts, and pleasure to ‘keep her satisfied’. The idea is to first analyze why you felt the need to do that. Do you feel that she was not satisfied with you being you? Did she ever communicate that you are not enough for her and that she needed these other things to feel satisfied? It is not normal in a relationship to constantly be providing gifts and reasons to another person in order that they remain with you. If you are doing that then it could mean you feel you are not worthy of love from a person without such actions. A woman should ideally give you love and attention because she finds you interesting and finds your character to be valuable. This person should want to spend time with you and be around you primarily because she loves you and not because of what you can provide her.
If you are finding that women want to spend time with you simply because of what you can offer them then you may want to re-evaluate whether spending time with these women is in your best interest. It would not appear to be something which benefits you to any great degree and only ends up hurting you, in the end. The idea is you should not reveal exactly how much money you have to people and that you should not flaunt your wealth before any potential partners. The best approach is to allow yourself to get to know a woman or potential girlfriend, slowly, allowing her to get to know you slowly, as well. Then if you develop some level of trust you can reveal more about your resources but still it is a good idea to keep some of that just for yourself.
Additionally, it is good to not lavish a lot of luxury on a potential partner and to allow her to pay for some things, as well, so she feels a sense of responsibility (financially) in the relationship. You do not want a potential mate to feel that you will always handle financial issues as that person can become reliant on that and accustomed to that sort of treatment and this would be the exact thing you would want to avoid. Allow the woman to pay for some things and to feel a sense of financial responsibility in your relationship. If she continues to remain despite that you can be more assured that she is there for you and not for other reasons.
Finally, it is a good idea for you to examine your own self esteem and reasons why your self esteem might be low. Sometimes we do not believe we are worthy of someone’s love for us and so we compensate by essentially ‘purchasing’ their love. But this does not lead anywhere good. It is better to be without a partner than to be with someone who is only there because of your resources. It is important that a person you are dating values you for you and for no other reasons. If you do seek some therapy, whether via this platform or others, it will be beneficial to you to explore your self esteem and ways to improve it.
Finding a person who will value you for you is not easy but it is worth it and she is out there. Don’t give up looking for her and don’t settle for those who only value you for your resources. Thank you again for posting your question in this forum. I wish you good luck in the future as well as good physical and mental health.
