How can I practice self love other than looking into the mirror and repeating affirmations

I find myself not being enough for others, by others I mean lovers and sometimes even at work I feel like I can go unnoticed. I know I bring a lot to the table but I feel like others don’t see it or even when they do see it, they’ll use me and won’t appreciate it. I'm in and out of relationships just looking to be loved by someone, anyone. Only to be hurt more than I was once.

Other than repeating affirmations in a mirror, practicing self love can be in the form of actions. What are some activities that bring you joy? What are you passionate about, what excites you? Go do that activity that makes you happy, pamper yourself, take care of your mind and body, those are acts of self love too. You have to attend to yourself before you can be a good partner, friend, co-worker, family member etc. You bring a lot to the table - just saying that is self love! What are some things you are proud of about yourself? What have you accomplished or overcome? What makes you unique? Embrace and celebrate your strengths. And don't settle. You deserve a reciprocal relationship, so always make sure your needs are being met. Know what you want and need in a relationship and stick to that, be clear with your partner and if they can't give that to you, on to the next relationship. And don't see moving on from a relationship as a failure. Ending a relationship that is negative and does not lift you up, that is another expression of self love. If in the past you've felt unappreciated and used, then try to look out for the red flags and warning signs when you enter into a new relationship with someone. When you start getting to know someone ask yourself, am I being seen, heard and appreciated? Am I happy, am I comfortable with this person? Do I want to be with this person, investing time, energy and emotions into this developing relationship?

But the relationship with yourself is the most important one, so start there.  You need to love yourself, and truly believe you are enough. And it's just a matter of waiting to find the right person who will love and appreciate you for who you truly are. And in the meantime, you got yourself and that is enough! Maybe focus less on the romantic relationships, take a break and focus on other areas of your life, family or friendships or work relationships.

Similar to affirmations, reflecting on what you are thankful for that you have in your life, little things like getting up each morning, listing out things you're grateful for can be a helpful way to start off positive and a form of self love.
