Relationship & Family matters

My Family is not stable and I can see my partner, he has really changed, I don’t know what is really facing - he doesn’t want to be open to me, which is hard for me.

Hello there,

Firstly, can I say thank you for sharing what you are going through and I’m sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time. You’ve explained that you have are having relations and family issues. At the same time, you have taken the step of reaching out to be able to work on these things. This shows self-awareness.

After reading your message, it felt like there are some questions you’d like to ask around your partner as well. How long ago have you been feeling that your family has not been stable. What does stability in your family look and feel like? What would you like to change so that you can find the stability you’d like?

You spoke about your partner and how he has ‘really changed’. This sounded that the change has been difficult for you. How long ago did you notice the change? Did something happen? How have you been coping with the changes in your partner so far? How has it impacted you?

I noticed that you mentioned that you are unsure what your partner is facing, and he doesn’t open-up to you about this with you. You’ve also said that this is hard for you. This must be difficult for your, when it sounds like you want to be involved in the conversation and be able to help. Have you been able to be open and honest with each other in the past? What has your communication been like in your relationship? How did it feel talking about what has been happening in your relationship?

How do you feel about having therapy to explore in more detail what you are going through? Counselling is a non-judgmental space where you can talk opening about what you are going through. They could be things in the here and now or things that you may want to discuss in your past. I guess, as humans, we all have things in the subconscious but only through exploration, can we become aware of them and make lasting change.

Should you feel in need of urgent help or that you are in crisis at any time, please call Samaritans on 116 123 [24 hours a day]; or 999.

Thank you for reaching out. I hope talking about this has helped you.

Warmest wishes,

Mehreen.
