I want to improve myself
Hi,
Thank you for your question, I can sense how difficult this may have been for you to ask, especially as you have already tried to engage with other methods and therapist's. It can seem like you've become stuck because nothing has seemed to really alleviate what you are feeling right now, yet you are really trying help yourself move forward and make-sense of things. Which can become extremely frustrating and disconcerting.
My name is Heidi, I have been a therapist for three and a half years now and work as a person-centered therapist. This approach also adopts a holistic approach, meaning that it prizes all parts of you, in the here-and-now. It focuses on how experiences (past and present) manifest themselves and impact you now. This is a good way to start to reconnect with your interpersonal self in the moment, rather than sidestepping this process and focusing on a solution or what the past was like in the past. Here is a bit more info about the approach in case you would like to know a little bit more: https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/person-centred-therapy.html#benefitsofpersoncentredtherapy
Firstly, I want to reiterate your will power in reaching out to try something else - like BetterHelp, this is a good quality to have when exploring ways that will help you move forward. The holistic approaches that you mentioned are often a really good way to try and re-connect with yourself, however they can be tricky to fully engage with when a person is currently working on this connection. It's almost like trying to ride a bike without first using the stabilizers. Sometimes the need to improve or reach a particulr goal precedes the working out of how to get there. Which, is a natural response when you feel the ways you have described. It is important to honor the emotions, feelings and other responses that you are experiencing right now before trying to find a solutions for them, and therapy is a great way to explore these.
I really hear your struggle in trying to keep a positive mindset and controlling your emotions and feel that therapy would be a great way to help with this. BetterHelp is an excellent choice for those who need flexibility with their session times, although I do feel that it is important to try and stick to one therapist when possible as this aids the speed of your therapeutic journey and allows you to build up a safe and trusting relationship with your therapist.
I do have a flexible schedule, and I am more than happy to work with you, if you feel that the time is right and that this is what you want too.
In the meantime, if you do have any more questions, or would like any more infromation please just drop me a message. You can also have a look at my BetterHelp page for a bit more info on me.
Take care for now.
Warmest regards,
Heidi Barlow
