Ambition is something that fluctuates throughout our lives but can be an important component to move forward in life. When we are ambitious, we are moving forward towards specific goals which can be very fulfilling and satisfying.  Ambition helps us to work towards change, which can help us to feel like our life is not stagnant.  When we are stagnant, life can easily turn into depression. It is important to be mindful of stagnancy to hopefully help yourself be more ambitious.  For example, if you do not have ambition and spend your days doing the same thing each day, at some point that is going to feel heavy and could lead to depression.

When we are ambitious and going after certain ambitions in life it can help produce happy hormones in our body.  When we are ambitious, we are going after things that are important to us and can produce some happiness in us.  Getting more of a production of happy hormones helps us to have better overall life satisfaction.  For example, if you have the ambition to learn a new sport, you are likely going to feel happier when playing the sport and that happiness can find its way into other parts of your life.

As you go after your ambitions in life that will add to your self-esteem.  When we go after our ambitions and achieve them, it helps add to confidence that we can go after the change.  This also helps people feel less like they are tied to their past and the mistakes that possibly occurred.  Ambition can greatly impact our careers, friendships, relationships, hobbies, among other things.  Without ambition, it can feel very difficult to improve certain things in life which can add to a lot of depression and anxiety.  It is important to be realistic with your ambitions so you are not setting yourself up for failure that could add to a lack of confidence. For example, if I am wanting to learn a new language and my ambition with that is to be fluent in three months’ time, that is likely unrealistic.  When I do not achieve that, it will add to a lack of confidence and even a fear of future ambitions.
