Could talking about my problems really change the way I feel?

For months now, I've felt like a robot. My laughter is fleeting more than ever and my trauma creeps in my mind more than ever. I've seen much more flaws in a lot of my relationships, not particularly much on my end though. My social anxiety has been a bit more apparent as well, and hasn't been a prevalent issue since I was around 15/16. I'm 18 now. I also want to mention I have experienced multiple major traumatic events within the past 2 years. I just kind of want to know how that has affected me.

Hello and thank you for posting your question in this forum.

This is a rather difficult and complex concern but we will attempt to help you deconstruct it as much as possible. It sounds like you have experienced a lot of trauma recently which might affect you in a number of ways. The occurrence of trauma can affect us in many ways. We can explore some of that here.

Trauma can cause us to become emotionally distant from our close relatives and friends. If it is not processed it can cause us to become distant even from ourselves or our own feelings. We might become cold and calculating and not allow ourselves to feel any sense of joy, happiness, or other real emotions. It seems like this has already been happening to you to a great degree. The social anxiety you are describing can be a very real experience, however, your desire to keep distance from others may not solely be an experience of social anxiety. It can be a derivative effect of trauma which is manifesting itself in your external work.

The primary thing to do is to process your trauma in order to move forward. If you process your trauma in a real and thoughtful way over a lengthy period of time you might actually be able to move forward in a more positive direction. It is important to consider doing this so that you are able to move forward and process the difficult traumas of the past. As well as learn new ways of coping and communication, which are healthy.

Thank you again for posting your question in this forum.

I wish you good luck in the future as well as good physical and mental health.
