How do I start to move on emotionally after a huge life change?

I recently went through a large change in major, career, and living situation and need help processing these events as I'm pretty sure I have blocked myself from thinking about it as the main stressor or event brings up feelings of shame and guilt.

McKenna,

I appreciate you reaching out to us. Any life changes can be stressful, and when you have multiple life changes, this (of course) can add to the amount of stress you are experiencing. Journaling can be beneficial when you have situations that you need to process. I am curious what your support system looks like. Do you have friends and family that you can reach out to? If so, I encourage you to do so. If not there are many ways, to build a support system, such as meetup.com. Counseling may also be helpful when attempting to process life events and/or changes.

Many times, when there are multiple life changes, you may experience symptoms of depression. (Hopelessness, helplessness, a change in eating or sleeping patterns or a lack of motivation etc.). If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may want to contact your physician. There are some things you can to to help decrease depression symptoms such as eating and sleeping appropriately, obtaining an appropriate amount of exercise, utilizing a therapy light and/or reaching out to your support system.

Self-care is a topic that will be very important for you. What do you do to take care of yourself? This could be reading, listening to music, exercising, spending time with friends as well as taking care of personal hygiene.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you need anything, in the future, feel free to contact us again.

Have a wonderful day!
