I am so overwhelmed and unorganized. I need help with adult add issues. What can you do to help?
Sorry to hear you are overwhelmed. It certainly sounds like you have a number of different stressors on you, given you are the primary breadwinner in your family, have a daughter with her own struggles, conflict with your spouse and a partner you do not feel like you and rely on. That is a lot on your plate! As a result, the tasks of both "life" and "work" continue to pile up and it feels unmanageable.
Working with a therapist can help you with these feelings of being overwhelmed. You say that you need a break. I agree- it is important that you get that break in order to, as you say, "get back on track in life." When you work with a therapist, it can help, and perhaps even force you, to first pause, take a deep breath, and step back and look at your stressors more objectively. Sometimes when we are running at full speed we forget to pause and breath before moving forward.
With what you have shared in this question, I would want to find out more about your own level of self-care and coping strategies. In order to meet all of the demands that are placed on you, it is important that you are prioritizing you- and often, that is one of the first things that goes "out of window." When we don't prioritize our own self-care and engage in healthy coping strategies, it becomes almost impossible to manage life's challenges. Specifically, I would encourage you to learn some mindfulness and breathing techniques to help you get to a place where you feel like you can think more clearly and function better. Being more fully in the present moment, and managing some of the anxiety and stress will help you prioritize some of the work related stressors that you are talking about, and allow you to function better as an employee. Additional healthy coping behaviors can supplement this work.
I'd also encourage you to consider your communication with your spouse about your daughter. Some psychoeducation about your daughter's struggles may be beneficial and communicating your needs, including the assistance you need with both your daughter and the home related chores.
Along the process of therapy, there may be other things that arise that are important to unpack or challenge. Often, I find it helpful for clients to work on the bigger picture of "why?" and "where am I headed?" Identifying a client's values, reasons, and a sense of purpose can help move clients towards more fulfilled living.
